Monteverdi Chorale Cabaret | Best of Broadway Fundraiser
When Monteverdi Chorale reached out about needing a photographer for their annual cabaret fundraiser, I was so in. After not holding their event for the last couple of years due to the pandemic, these guys were so pumped to hold their annual winter concert for their patrons. I was excited to use my camera to document and appreciate an awesome show!
Confession: I was a theatre kid in high school. I was in choir, drama club, community theatre, and stage manager for our competitive show choir team. My sophomore year, we did songs from Wicked as our show choir theme. I will forever have the words to “Popular” and “Defying Gravity” embedded into my memory thanks to my show choir days.
When the coordinators at Monteverdi reached out about me photographing their annual fundraiser, I was immediate on board once I found out the theme was Best of Broadway!
They held a silent auction with so many local Stevens Point businesses and there were some awesome prizes — like a framed Bart Starr photo for those die-hard Packer fans! All of the table centerpieces, provided by Wisconsin Greenhouse & Floral, were also auctioned off at the end of the night. What a beautiful way to extend the life of these centerpieces and give that beauty back to their patrons.
Their concert was full of the classics from Company, Bye-Bye Birdie, and the big finale — a Phantom of the Opera medley. Plus some contemporary musical inspiration from Wicked, Anastasia, and Hadestown made their concert a good blend of new and old. They inspired generations old and new to keep the tradition of theatre, musicals, and live music alive and well.
