Ice Age Trail Engagement Session | Waupaca, WI | M + J
McKayla and Jake’s engagement session on the Ice Age Trail here in Waupaca was definitely one for the books. We met at the Emmons Creek segment right before sunset. They brought their pup and we made some serious magic together. Summer golden hour is the best. The bugs may be brutal, but the light is so worth it.
The wildflowers were just starting to bloom, dotting the open prairie with blips of purple amidst all the greenery. The green and purple coupled with McKayla’s purple sweater and the golden hour light made the creative in me swoon. These two didn’t want to do any sort of PDA in their photos which was a nice challenge for me as their photographer during their session.
The Ice Age Trail is approximately 1200 miles long and runs through the entirety of the state of Wisconsin, following the path of the last continental glacier. We are lucky to have it run through our backyard in Waupaca, part of the trail is in the woods behind the water tower, leading into Hartman Creek State Park and out to the surrounding area. Emmons Creek is one of my favorite hidden gem segments of the trail, and I love taking pictures out here. It reminds me of taking photos at the old fish hatchery in Burlington, being seventeen and running around its trails with my friends, my camera, and a dream.
