Ashton and Brandon’s Boynton Chapel wedding day took place at the most picturesque spot hidden away on the shores of Lake Michigan in Door County. They got married at Björklunden, part of Lawrence University’s north campus in Bailey’s Harbor, and tucked away in the woods lies Boynton Chapel, a handcrafted wooden chapel that was constructed in 1947 and modeled after the 12th century Garmo stave church at Maihaugen in Lillehammer, Norway. The inside boasts 40+ hand-painted frescoes, and hand carved woodworks that have stood the test of time. It holds roughly 30 people and is perfect for the intimate wedding ceremony of your dreams.
Their wedding day had me teary eyed from behind my camera all day. From the sweet first look with Brandon doing up the buttons on Ashton’s sleeves to her first look with her dad and brother, but especially during the father-daughter dance when Ashton and her dad danced to “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac.
Ashton and I have known each other since she was a kid. Her family moved in across the street when I was in high school and Ashton actually had my same second grade teacher the year they moved in! Brandon is also a photographer and his landscape photos and night photography are some of my favorites. Together, these two can take on anything and their love story is so inspiring.
