Adding a new member to your family is such a sweet transition. Being pregnant, growing a new human is one of the greatest joys. Watching your toddler transition from only child to oldest sibling is another one of those motherhood moments that makes your heart soar. When the Dailai family reached out to me about doing a maternity mini session, I was so on board. We met just outside of the Waupaca Wheelhouse in King for their family session at Oakwood Park.
My motto during family sessions has always been to let your kiddos be kids and let them run the show for the most part. You wanna explore? Let’s do it. Time for a playground break? You got it, dude. You’ve reached your limit and are no longer a willing participant? I get it! Let’s do some photos of mom and dad and give you break! You did so good, buddy!
When you look back on your family photos from this time in your life, I want you to remember their tiny fingers, how comfortably they fit holding them on your hip, and their gummy grin. I want you to remember how the tickle monster always guaranteed a smile and how you were the most important person to the world to them in that moment. Documenting this fleeting time where you still have an only child is really simple magic.
